• Summary about the events in Szeged

Thanks to the Wesselényi Public Foundation our training in Szeged again was very successful.
Our two new players, Ágota and Ádám, performed also well. So we hope the other ones take a liking to join.

  • Szeged again

We are going to hold this year first training camp in Szeged again May 20 (Friday) – May 22 (Sunday).
This time the gymnasium of the Piarist Secondary School András Dugonics will be the spot.

On the training of February 5 Szabolcs Bánlaki photographed the group and the pictures can be watched in our gallery. Flickr's gallery is also here.

Founding our team came up as an idea first more intense somewhere around the beginning of 2008. There was a sportsday called MERI in April where we took part in as an inaugural new type of sport in Hungary. Some were really interested there and a report was made about us on that day too (read here).By summer we could see it more or less what and it how should be done. Edit and her acquaintance helped a lot to recruit more and more members for this team as she knows many injured persons in Hungary due to her job. Time after time we were able to contact more and more interested, curious and wondering people. By autumn there were enough numbers of people for the team therefore on the 8th of November we could keep our very first training session in the insitute of OORI, in one of its gyms on sport therapy section. We were a bit gauche and heavy-handed however incredibly enthusiastic.

Our first few big steps in 2009:

  • joining 'Guriga' Sportsclub where we operate as a wheelchair rugby section club
  • the place of our training sessions are ensured by OORI, in their gym
  • building of our own rugby wheelchairs
  • finding Arday Attila, our new coach
  • organizing an international training camp

Our goals are not so ambitious so far. First aim is to leave our homes for a few hours, being with our friends in a group, finding new acquaintances and of course doing more and more physical exercises and keeping our bodies fit. Later on when the conditions are already given (chairs and physical power) we would also like to visit international games and competitions and also to invite other teams from foreign countries. And our biggest secret wish is to go out to the 2012 Paralympics to London.
